 Event: Boundless Southern Africa Expedition – Boundless Soccer Challenge
 Venue: Zimbabwe - Mwanamuni -
adjacent to the Gonarezhou National Park (part of the Limpopo/Shashe Transfrontier Conservation Area).
 Date: 14th June 2009

As part of the Kingsley Holgate Boundless Southern Africa Expedition community soccer pitches were upgraded and Boundless Soccer Challenges held for communities living within or adjacent to Transfrontier Conservation Areas.

Mike Rumble jumped from a game darting helicopter that was operating in the area, flew the Boundless Southern Africa banner, and landed the Garmap parachute in the middle of the recently upgraded community soccer pitch to present the Minister of Environment and Tourism with the soccer ball to start the Boundless Soccer Challenge.

Garmin and Garmap are pleased to participate in the Boundless Southern Africa initiative.

 Date: 14th May 2009

 Event: "Boundless Southern Africa Expedition” Indaba Send-Off
 Venue: Tourism Indaba, ICC Durban
 Date: 11th May 2009

Mike Rumble and Graham Field arrived from the sky at great speed, flying close to the Hilton Hotel and whipping around to land on the ramp right in front of the main entrance to Durban ICC. Delivering the symbolic scissors to our good friend Miss South Africa Tatum Keshwar, she then cut the symbolic ribbon and the Kingsley Holgate led Boundless Southern Africa Expedition was officially underway.

This was Grahams 4000th SkyDive…. Go G!!!!

Mike liked the idea of the Boundless Southern Africa Expedition so much that he jumped straight into a Land Rover 90 and joined in the entire expedition.

Special Thanks to ICC Durban Management and Staff, Durban Metro Police and Disaster Management for providing permission and assisting with this extra special high profile parachute display, and for blocking off the ramp for 3 minutes.

 Event: Century Avionics opening of new Wonderboom Facility

Century Avionics, now 30 years of age, opened its magnificent new facility at Wonderboom airport.

The Jump Garmin SkyDiving Team supported the opening of this new facility and delivered the scissors for the ceremonial cutting of the ribbon.

 Event: Boschendal The Estate – High Profile Launch

As part of a high profile launch of “Boschendal The Estate”, Clive Venning (Boschendal CEO) made a tandem skydive, with Jump Garmin SkyDiving Team members Erik Vliegenthart and Mike Rumble, out of an EC120 helicopter. It was also Clive`s 50th Birthday the week before. We all wore tuxedoes.

Over 17 000 entrants and no less than 13 Olympians took part in this fantastic event. The Garmin SkyDiving Team entertained participants and spectators, bring from the sky the keys to a brand new Toyota for a luck winner.

What an awesome event in a most beautiful part of the country.

The Garmin SkyDiving Team braved challenging conditions and magically appeared from the sky at the lunch break at the Katberg Hotel on the Friday. On the Saturday we made sure everyone was awake with a quick fly past over the tents and landed at the start in the main street of The Old Thomas River. We also appeared from the sky with 100metres of danger tape trailing behind us for The Garmin Rodeo Challenge. Especial Thanks to all the locals. The Old Thomas River – what a superb place…

 Event: Kingsley Holgate Outside Edge Homecoming Party
 Venue: The Castle of Good Hope – Cape Town

Kingsley Holgate and family achieved the circumnavigation of the continent of Africa through 33 countries with the support of a number of sponsors and supporters, one of them Garmin. Mike and Graham delivered a message from Arch Bishop Desmond Tutu, a mosquito net, a set of reading glasses and an educational book into The Holgate`s Homecoming Party in The Castle of Good Hope - Cape Town, emphasising the ideal of “going to any lengths to deliver humanitarian efforts – hand to hand, the giving of something that is going to make a difference in someone’s life. Saving Lives Through Adventure ”

 Event: Garmin Rooiberg Eco Ride
 Venue: Rooiberg - Limpopo
 Date: 31st May and 1st June 2008

The Garmin SkyDiving Team performed 6 skydiving displays out of a B2 Squirrel Helicopter over the 2 day event.
We opened the race on both days, landed in the finish corridor behind the first riders to come home on each day, opened Dylan Victor's Trick Bike Show and delivered the prize money into the prize giving. An incredible weekend.

Marius Roberts from Isidingo and Kate Kearney a presenter from Jacaranda FM both did tandem skydives into Bryandale Primary School as part of the schools fun day. The Garmin SkyDiving Team assisted with a number of elements including the coordination and spotting of the aircraft, which had its own special challenges flying at high altitude into controlled airspace... obviously we didn't want to miss the spot!!! We also did the camera work on the tandems.

 Event: Matjhabeng Air Carnival / FreeState Regional Gliding Championship
 Venue: Welkom
 Date: 26th April 2008
The Garmin SkyDiving Team flew from Rand Airport to the Matjhabeng Air Carnival in a formation consisting of 2 Albatrosses and 3 Yaks.

On arrival the Garmin SkyDiving Team opened the event, jumping with a Cornel and a Major from the South African Special Forces.

 Event: The Absa Cape Epic presented by adidas
 Venue: Lourensford Wine Estate - Somerset West
 Date: 5th April 2008
The 9-day ABSA Cape Epic "Magical and Untamed African MTB" Race (presented by adidas) started out at the Knysna Waterfront. Approximately 1 200 riders from more than 40 countries riders travelled a total distance of 966km’s, between 80 and 140km per day, and climbed 18 529m’s (which is equivalent of riding twice up Mount Everest!!!).
The Garmin SkyDiving Team were tasked with flying in 3 ABSA Cape Epic banners measuring 4 metres by 3 metres each, and to land them just 10 minutes before the first riders crossed the finish line at Lourensford Wine Estate.

The Absa Cape Epic presented by adidas is the largest mountain bike stage race in the world and the most televised mountain bike event of all time.

 Event: The Silver Spirit Rolls Royce Adventure.
 Venue: Palazzo Hotel Monte Casino
 Date: 2nd April
The Garmin Skydiving Team presented 2 Garmin Navigation Devices to The Silver Spirit Rolls Royce Expedition send off, with a spectacular landing of the parachutes in the swimming pool at the Palazzo Hotel at Monte Casino.
Mike and Jeanette van Ginkel, in their 1981 Rolls Royce Silver Spirit will travel from Cape Town through Africa to Cairo in Egypt, then by ferry from Alexandria to Naples. The final leg will take them through Italy and France and across the English Channel to Goodwood and London.

 Event: Midmar Mile - The Worlds Largest Open Water Swimming Event.

 Date: 9th and 10th Feb 2008

The Garmin SkyDiving Team performed 3 displays on the Sunday, overflying the finish line as the swimmers were coming in for both the Mens and Ladies races. We finished of our day with a spectacular landing in-between the crowds to open the prize giving ceremony. Garmin was awarded with a framed presentation of medals for "Valued Participation".

 Date: 1st - 3rd February 2008

The Sanlam Round the Island Race 2008-50TH Anniversary was a great success.
The Garmin SkyDiving Team were dropped from an Albatross and part of a simulated rescue involving SAPS Waterwing, SAPS Divers, NSRI, ER24 Marine and Land.
On the Sunday, once the yachts had finished the race, we swooped and landed up the BIG slide (check the video clip).

 Venue: Sun Coast Casino - Durban
 Date: 15th December 2007
To mark the start of the Free Style MX display and to draw the attention of anyone in the area of the Sun Coast Casino to the SAMotor Show we exited a C182 from 3000 feet AGL and flew the Garmin Parachutes along the beach trailing flags, landing in front of the VIP Marquee on the grass in front of The Sun Coast Casino. There was a PA System giving a running commentary and the Motor Cross Bikes were revving as we landed, rolling immediately into their display.

 Event: Dome 2 Dome Cycle Challenge
 Venue: Coca Cola Dome - Johannesburg
 Date: 16th September 2007
At 6am with 5000 bicycles and many spectators lined up along the road by The Coca Cola Dome, The Powerade Dome 2 Dome Cycle Challenge was about to start. We exited a C-182 from 2500 feet AGL and after flying overhead the participants and spectators we landed accurately at the end of the start-up grid to mark the start of the race.
